Running Engine!

I was told that the engine had been sat for about 5 years on the driveway and not turned over.

I replaced the spark plugs and squirted some oil in to the bores. Next the air filter was cleaned and a quick oil change was given. A new set of points were installed after the old ones had ceased up. The starter was ceased also so I removed the engine and stripped the starter, put in new bushes and refitted everything back together.

Now the engine would turn over but there was no spark. A replacement coil was fitted and re-tested. Now we had a spark and the engine turning over. After filling up with a gallon of unleaded it was quite clear that the fuel pipe had rotted away to nothing as I saw my driveway soaked in unleaded. An hour later and all of the fuel line had been replaced, and was ready to test run again.

The fuel pump was found to be faulty so was removed and rebuilt. Now with the pump working I fitted a new 260 cold cranking amp battery and turned the engine over. After 15 seconds or so, It was firing on one - then two then three.... then all four! After a few carb and timing tweaks, she is now running as good as was designed!

Interior with 1 seat

I just got the engine running and wanted somewhere so sit as my feet were killing me!

More interior - or lack of....

Engine bay

new coil, points, and some revised wiring.

back of car and engine bay

Rear bonnet lid - prepped for painting

Drivers side heater channel

Near side heater channel rear

A pillar with rot removed

This should be enough to weld on to, just need to clean up the surrounding area and prep for welding.

Near side front heater channel preperation

Quite a lot of rot was removed from here. Im going to wait until I get the new heater channels before I remove any more as I want the fit to be perfect.
